IF YOU WORKED FOR
A T.G.I. FRIDAY'S RESTAURANT IN CALIFORNIA AT ANY TIME SINCE
JANUARY 1999, THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT PENDING IN ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
THAT AFFECTS YOUR RIGHTS.
In
January 2003, a class action lawsuit was filed in Orange County Superior Court against Main Street
and Main, Incorporated, the owner and operator of most of the T.G.I.
Friday's franchises in the State of California.
The
lawsuit seeks unpaid wages and other damages resulting from the company's refusal to
permit its hardworking restaurant employees to take half-hour lunch breaks
and regular paid ten minute breaks during shifts of 3½ hours or more.
The plaintiffs have reached a settlement of $5 million with
Main Street Restaurant Group and Briad. If
the settlement is approved, every non-management T.G.I. Friday's restaurant worker employed
by Main Street and Main since January 1999 may be entitled to some compensation.
These benefits affect nearly all hourly
employees, including hosts and hostesses, bus staff, food servers, bartenders,
cooks and dishwashers.
